A little metal work

I did a little work on the gorgets and nose ring/ornament a few days ago. There is just a color or two that needs to be added to punch it up a bit more. A little more color was added to the skin areas also. I hope to have this done by the weekend, but I know better. lol

Looks great pard! Painting objects to look like metal with oil paints has to be very difficult.

Thanks buddy. It does not look like I did much. I think it's easier to paint metals in oils than acrylics. I went in and added a few other colors that appear more reflective. I think it's those colors rather than metal colors, i.e. black or grays that really give it depth.

Fantastic work Gary! the metals are looking much better, I thought they looked a little one dimensional in the previous shots.

Leigh, Thanks. The funny thing is with acrylics I could work them until I was satisfied with how something looked. With oils I can do some fine blending or really striking darks or highlights. The downside due to the slow drying of oils is you can only play for so long. If you push too much you either have a muddy mess or have to wipe it off. I'm looking forward to doing this picture much larger one day. ~Gary

Gary, I think your work looks even better in oils. The combo of soft and hard edges is very effective!
